BOOXAccessibility statement

Accessibility statement

Last updated: October 8, 2026

We want everyone to be able to use the BOOX website, including people with disabilities. Here is what we have already done, what we haven't yet, and how to reach us when something doesn't work.

In short
  • The site hasn't had a full accessibility audit yet, so its accessibility today is partial.
  • Already in place: the right language and reading direction on every page, controls that work with a keyboard with a visible focus, and respect for the reduced-motion setting.
  • Not yet: a written transcript for the opening film, a pause button for the short films, and a contrast check of every combination.
  • Ran into a problem? Write to [email protected]. We will fix it within 60 days at most, and help you another way in the meantime.

01What this statement covers

This statement covers the BOOX website: the main page, the sample popup on it, the waiting list, and the policy and help pages.

The BOOX app inside Shopify, and the popup it shows in stores, are not part of this statement.

02Accessibility level

Our goal is to meet Israeli Standard SI 5568 at level AA, which is based on the international WCAG guidelines, under the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Regulations (Service Accessibility Adjustments), 2013.

Today, conformance is partial. The site hasn't had a full accessibility audit yet, so we don't claim it fully meets the standard. When a full audit is done, we will write here when, with which tools and by whom.

How what is written here was checked. The lists on this page were written by reading the site's code. We haven't yet checked it with an automated testing tool, with a screen reader or in different browsers.

03What we have already done

  • Every page declares its language and reading direction, and has its own title.
  • Every page has one main heading, and a heading for each part. The navigation, the main content and the footer are marked as regions.
  • On every page, the first press of Tab reaches a "Skip to content" link.
  • The buttons and links are standard browser controls, so they work with a keyboard. When you navigate with a keyboard, you can see where you are: the buttons, the FAQ, the footer links and the cookie banner show a green outline, and everything else shows the browser's own focus mark. On the main page and the policy pages we haven't hidden the focus mark on any control.
  • The FAQ is built from the browser's standard disclosure control, which opens and closes with Enter or Space.
  • The opening film has a pause button and a sound button. Both work with a keyboard and tell a screen reader whether they are on.
  • The waiting list opens in a dialog that works with a keyboard: Esc closes it, and focus returns to the button that opened it. The email field has a label, and a screen reader reads out the error and success messages.
  • The cookie banner comes right after the "Skip to content" link, so the keyboard meets it early.
  • The cookie settings open in a dialog that works with a keyboard: Tab stays inside the dialog, Esc closes it, and focus returns to where you opened it from. Each switch announces whether it is on.
  • The drawings are marked as decoration, so a screen reader skips them. The information itself is written as text.
  • Anyone who set "reduce motion" on their device gets the main page and the policy pages with no animations that start by themselves and no transitions, and no film plays by itself.
  • We haven't blocked zooming: you can enlarge the pages in a browser and on a phone, and the layout adapts to narrow screens.
  • The site has no accessibility overlay. Accessibility is built into the code, and you can use your browser's and operating system's zoom and contrast settings.
  • The policies are written as regular web pages, not as files to download.

04What isn't accessible yet

  • The opening film at the top of the main page plays by itself, without sound and on a loop. You can pause it with the button in its corner. It has no written transcript.
  • Animated drawings on the main page repeat every few seconds, and so does the shine that passes over the button at the end of the page. There is no button to stop them. Anyone who set "reduce motion" sees them still.
  • The short films in the sections of the main page play by themselves on a loop, without sound, when you scroll to them, and there is no pause button next to them. Anyone who set "reduce motion" sees a still picture instead.
  • Color contrast hasn't been measured yet in every combination, for example text on a dark background.

An alternative: write to us at [email protected], and we will email you, in plain text, any information shown in the films or in any other part of the site.

05Third-party content

Installing BOOX and billing happen in the Shopify App Store. Accessibility there is Shopify's responsibility. The same goes for any other site ours links to.

06In-person service

We have no walk-in service and no office open to the public. All service is given online and by email.

07Ran into a problem? Contact us

Accessibility requests: [email protected].

So we can help quickly, please tell us:

  • Which page, and which part of it.
  • What you tried to do, and what didn't work.
  • Which browser and which assistive technology you used, for example a screen reader or zoom.

We will reply as soon as we can. We will fix the problem within a reasonable time, and no later than 60 days from your request. Until then we will help another way, for example by emailing you the information. You can ask for any content on the site in an accessible format.

08Updating this statement

This statement was updated on October 8, 2026. We will update it after the full audit, and after any significant change to the site.
